Beckett says…
Bumboground

Always use your Bumbo on the ground.

But then these people say even that’s not safe enough.

What a terrible, dangerous world we live in. How did any of us survive to adulthood before recalls and knee pads and persistent parental paranoia?

John and I ask this question every time we walk down 7th Ave! If you, yourself, are pushing the tricycle your child is riding on, and that tricycle lifts your child about eight inches off the ground, do you really believe that knee pads, a helmet and a seat belt are necessary precautions?

Cute photo! It sounds like you know enough not to be doing this:

    Common sense…sheesh!

People crack me up with both the stupid things that they do to their kids and the rampant paranoia about things that are just common sense. So you’re saying that I SHOULDN’T put the 10 lb baby in his 1 pound bouncy seat on the running washer? WHY???
Do you remember wearing a helmet as a kid? I sure don’t. No one did. And somehow, I survived (with as clutzy as I am, this is a miracle).

Ah, our wonderful litigious society, where we have to be reminded that the coffee is hot, the packet of silica that came with the stereo isn’t bonus candy to be eaten, that Draino doesn’t belong in our eyes, that we shouldn’t place our infants in high places and leave them unattended…

I loved the Bumbo! It was passed on to us, and on past us as a cherished childhood must have. Our daughter fell out of it a few times, always on the floor. She even learned to arch herself out of it backwards but we kept on using it. Kids get hurt, accidents happen! It isn’t necessarily some horrible irresponsible part of the manufacturer. Like my coworker says “only about 10% of the population has common sense”
